10,000 mostly men gamers, and a situation where \"gamers\" are a bit more \"childish\" than most individuals (I also speak for myself...young at heart and attitude) all on the same site interacting.\r \r Chances are, someone wont like someone else at some point in time.\r \r Although I'm a laid back guy I see lots of people get upset at each other. In the end, it's not worth the argument, just move on and work with people you CAN get along with :)

The behavior mentioned happens in every game. It's just most visible in Halo right now. Wait for the COD4 release, you'll see the same thing.

I have seen it and I fight it tooth and nail. I make any rooms I run the opposite. Make them fun and friendly as possible. As to why Halo brings this out in people, I don't have a frikn' clue. Sunspots maybe...?

People are stupid en masse. Individually, they can be brilliant, but when it becomes a mob scene you're fuckered. The idiot factor increases exponentially.\r \r The hubris involved in so many folks' Halo skills tends to cause a lack of common sense. Glad I'm happy sucking at the game...

It is not just Halo that has this effect, apparently the WOW forum also has it's issues..IMHO Halo and Wow are the \"big boys on the block\" and with that you get 3 different type/styles of player.\r \r 1. happy go lucky...has not intention of being competive or serious about the game.\r \r 2. competitvie...wants to play enough and practice enough to be able to hold there own in MM.\r \r 3. Hardcore...lives breaths eats sleeps any and all aspect of there game, must practice constantly, learn all the tricks of the trade, use anything possible (without bridging, cheating, blah, blah) to dominate this game.\r \r Is it wrong to be any of these....no...is it wrong for one style of player to bash on another style of player...yes...\r \r so when one style of player says..oh I am just a social player and do not have to learn everything about the game like some people...or a hardcore player says I only play the game this way, anything else is crap...well that is wrong too.\r \r Basically play it the way you want to play it, dont bash someone else for putting the time in to learn new things or not learn new things.\r \r People in general just get butt hurt way to easily over these things..

Yeah, I don't believe its just Halo Jeep. I tried RSV6 online in some deathmatches (before I found this awesome web site!) and I lasted all of about 5 minutes. COD4 beta, got the same idiot kind of guys on a handful of occasions. Granted I see it more in Halo but I believe it is because the large number of people who play Halo on LIVE. More idiots, if you will, to choose from. I can't say I've actually ran into anyone here who has done the kind of stuff TDrag stated. I'm not saying they aren't there I just haven't encountered anyone.

I think Halo brings out the most competitive nature of its players in part because of something most of us use as just a bonus. And that's stat tracking on Bungie.net. Yes it's good to see how your doing, but it becaomes more than that to ultra-competitve people. It becomes a d*ck measuring tool.\r \r If that's the way youwant to play, and you want to be hardcore, fine. But I generally won't play in your rooms because that's not how I want to play.\r \r And Gears has/had the same effect on some people. You've done a d*ck measuring in GoW yourself from reading some of your past blogs. ;-)

I would disagree with that assessment Ekattan.\r \r It isn't only the \"group of people who take the game far too seriously\", it's both sides are the argument.\r \r In the button combos thread, BOTH parties (if you want to seperate them like that) showed poor examples of behavior.\r \r So, please don't lay blame on those of us who like to play competitively. \r \r That's one of the reasons why this shit starts to begin with.

Agreed Soup...that is my point. Does Halo simply become the rallying cry for a large amount of douchebags? Or is it a small segment of any game's players that act like that, just with Halo it is so much larger, you see a greater portion of it. \r \r Based on all comments here, I think that all games have the DB element. However, when you take a title such as Halo, that reaches so many gamers and has such a large loyal following, that title amplifies the behavoir and makes it more obvious to the gaming community.\r \r Nuff said....and :p I
