When it Rains, it Pores.

Woke up this morning and it's raining of course.

Anyways, I went to the fridge to get  my morning dose of caffeine (Dt. Dew) and as soon as it touched my lips, I realized something I should have realized last night:  The fridge was out.

Last night I had a little bit of ice cream, and I noticed that it was somewhat soft when I scooped it out its container.  But I really didn't think anything of it.  But this morning, when I expected to be drinking ice-cold Dt. Dew, I instead was drinking "somewhat" cold Dt. Dew.  Not good.

So, I had to move all the food out of the freezer and into our other freezer this morning, and called the repair man.  Not looking forward to how much that is going to cost.   Really kind of pisses me off since the fridge is only 4 years old.  :-(

Our second fridge in the garage went out day before yesterday. The repair guy told us it would be cheaper to just buy a new one. UGH!

You never know, it might just be something simple. The last time my fridge went out it ended up only costing around $40 to repair. I wish now I remembered what was wrong with it.

If you haven't had it repaired yet, it may just be that the defrost elements are starting to go out. You can access the cooling coils by removing a panel (location varies) if they are all iced up just let them defrost by leaving the thing open. I chip at mine, but if you do be careful b/c the have little metal hairs that stick out and can stab you. After you've got those melted, you can check the metal defrost elements (usually look like a tube lightbulb with a spiral of metal inside) check and see if that/those are intact. I'd bet it/one of the filaments has busted. Get a new one, replace, reassemble. Hope I helped.
