What I think about the new Zune firmware

They improved some stuff.  One issue I do not like. I do not like that the menu font is bigger so you have to scroll.  The scrolling is awkward also.  They still don't have displaying of the extended info for radio broadcasts that contain the song name.

The podcast support is pretty slick, better than iTunes.  The Zune software will automatically keep the latest shows around.  On the device your podcasts are categorized by audio and video.  Having h.264 support is awesome.  I have only one video podcast that needs converting now.  Everything has album art thumbnails, it's kinda cool.  Wireless syncing is cool, however it is sort of useless.  It is slow and it seems your computer needs to be up with the zune software running.  The thumbnail/folder display for pictures is better.

There are some subttle chances like when scrolling through the song list the letter you are in is now on the left and in lowercase.  When you push the select button while in a song there is no longer the flag option.

I like the upgrade.  I just hope they add extended radio info and wireless streaming to the 360 in the next  update.

The update is a definate improvement to the previous version. There is an issue I have (and many others have well) that after the upgrade the album art isn't associating to the correct songs and some of the other tag info is incorrect now. Rumor is that it will be fixed sometime next week but we'll see.

Hmmm, I haven;t run into that problem yet. I did just find a neat little feature. When you select a song in a playlist you can choose \"go to artist.\" That's cool.

I am happy with it also, I tried the wireless synch with the zune software shut down and it launched it, took a while though\r \r all in all, I like it

Hmm, it never launched the software for me. It just said it couldn't find the PC. But then when I had the software running it synced fine. But this is with my laptop with XP. I got my motherboard back and will hopefully get my regular computer up and going. We'll see if everything works well on Vista.\r \r Also, I have a TV card now so I can try recording TV with MCE and then syncing to the Zune. Hopefully I can record MN Wild or Milwaukee Admiral games now and watch them at the laundromat.
