In our constant pursuit of the next "Blow-Your-Mind" thing, we have lost something important. Respect for loyalty and previous contributions no longer counts. What have you done for me lately? is the call sign now. I see this in business that lay off employees that have been there years, may have even helped build the company up to what it is today. I see this in family, who think you are mad at them if you don't call them once a week to ask about their dog. I see this in gaming communities, where Real Life happens and instead of checking in and seeing how someone is, or asking around, the assumption is that the person doesn't want to be in the clan anymore. That they are taking up SPACE that could be better used by someone else.
Well, not me. I am what you call a low maintenance friend. Seriously. I don't have to talk to someone every damn day. I don't have to be all in their business from week to week. I don't need to game with them every night. I still call people my friends based on my PAST experiences with them and the fact that I am LOYAL to the person that they are. Most of you see me dip in and out every few months. That's just how I roll! LOL. We all get busy, but it shouldn't affect our friendships and bonds of a community. The best friends I have I speak to maybe 3-4 times a year. We always pick up right where we left off. It never seems odd.
This isn't a personal attack by any means. Just a rant brought on by what I would call "list spam". So yeah......ya'll can EAT IT today, EAT IT tomorrow, EAT IT next year. I will always be a Duty Girl at heart. Edit: I can't impress enough that this is not directed a person, more of a policy issue.
