What a Weekend

They should all be like this.

Saturday: we played... broke out the "froggy pool". I bought a new wardrobe (thank goodness... i had no shorts...). Saturday Night we watched Sherlock Holmes. I enjoyed it.. it was a good movie. Not great, but it was fun. And I am in love with RDJ. He's all addicted-y and needs me you know /sarcasm

Sunday was a slowish day in the morning to get ready for ... Pool Party! Sean's cousin has a pool: that's kinda rare in Canada... and Erica was in the pool for 2.5 hours. She lasted longer than the big boys. She's gettting to be a decent swimmer... with water wings. Once the baby comes, we are going to take Erica for swim lessons on one of the days that I have her... which brings me to a point...

They sure as hell don't have that much "stuff" for kids of working parents. Most activities are during working hours: weekdays between 9-5. Even on the weekends there are not that many things for kids to do a rec centres or at the early years centres. Case in point: I found a "How to cope if you are a Working Mom..." type of course at the early years centre.... during the week a like 10AM. I'm thinking that they don't really mean it.

But back to the weekend. Yesterday was the "Froggy Park" a little water park near where we live. All of Barrhaven was there. It's a normal park, but there is a ton of "things" that spray water all over. It was fun. Erica does... okay at these things. I wish she was more assertive. I hear parents say "Honey, use your words." with Erica I am thinking "Honey, it was your turn, push that other kid down!!" Okay not REALLY but you see what I mean. She really does have a great vocabulary and she is smart as all get out, but I think that makes it tough in rowdy situtations where talking won't work. She also has a passive streak.

Maybe instead of swimming lessons, we should do swimming AND karate...

EDIT: Dear Mattel.

If you would cut a few virtual inches off of Barbie's hips you would do 2 things. 1. you would have something close to resembling a normal person (that's good) and 2. You would actually make it possible for a 3yo to put on the damn clothes over her hips all by herself. Then I may actually consider buying some of the Barbie clothes.  It's really a win-win all around.
