Way To Go Dems!

As I've stated before, I'm a libertarian. That means I don't like the Republicans very much and I rarely like the Democrats at all. Two Democrats in particular, who are usually very critical of President Bush and Republican in general, actually stood up this time.

Hugo Chavez, the president of Venezuela visited the United Nations and lambasted Bush stating, "The devil himself is right in the house. And the devil came here yesterday. Right here," Chavez said as he stood at the U.N. podium where Bush spoke the day before. "It smells of sulfur still today, this table that I am now standing in front of."

Wow! I don't think He'll be sending any Christmas cards to the White House this year. Don't let his words fool you. He really does hate George Bush. Don't be fooled either into thinking that it's just because he's George Bush. It's because George Bush is the U.S. President, that's all. Chavez is an extreme leftist dweeb that revels in the admiration of his followers. For a lot of Venezuelans, the ones who are darker in skin tone, he is like a Nelson Mandela. He has led a resurgence of left-wing populism in Latin America and allies himself with Iran and Cuba. So when Hugo Chavez speaks... just consider the source.

After Hugo "El Supremo" Chavez finished crapping out of his mouth, what did the Republicans do in response? Well, the White House only commented that the remarks didn't dignify a response, as the should have. But where were the other Republicans? No where to be found. The Democrats on the other hand had a lot to say, however not all of them were on the same page.

Riding in on the white horses to save the day were none other than Nancy Pelosi and Charles Rangel. Both have been strong critics of the Bush administration and the two of the last people you would expect to come to his defense. Nancy Pelosi retaliated by saying, "Hugo Chavez fancies himself a modern day Simon Bolivar but all he is an everyday thug," the house democratic leader said at a news conference, referring to Chavez' comments in a U.N. General Assembly speech on Wednesday. "Hugo Chavez abused the privilege that he had, speaking at the United Nations He demeaned himself and he demeaned Venezuela."

Bravo Nancy! Well said. And now it's Charlie's turn. In a press release, Congressman Rangle states, "I want to express my extreme displeasure with statements by the President of Venezuela attacking U.S. President George Bush in such a personal and disparaging way during his remarks at the United Nations General Assembly. It should be clear to all heads of government that criticism of Bush Administration policies, either domestic or foreign, does not entitle them to attack the President personally. George Bush is the President of the United States and represents the entire country. Any demeaning public attack against him is viewed by Republicans and Democrats, and all Americans, as an attack on all of us."

Thank You Charlie. I'm glad someone had enough ideals to stand up as and American and defend our president. You don't have to like Bush, You didn't have to like Clinton, but they were and are our presidents and no one should be able to stand up and make statements like that unchallenged. What...? What was that Tom Harkin? You liked what Chavez said? "Let me put it this way, I can understand the frustration, ah, and the anger of certain people around the world because of George Bush's policies." Then Harkin continued what has been frequent criticism of the president's foreign policy. Now that's more like what I'm used to.

That's Hugo "El Supremo" Chavez on the left. The little angel on his shoulder is Fidel Castro.
