As some of you already know, I have a lot of TVs.  I mean ALOT of TVs.  I've cut down recently a bit but at last count I was up around 15.  I've also been a loyal Directv subscriber for nearly 15 years.  A while back my Father in Law moved in with us and because he had always had cable and didn't really want to learn a new system, he subscribed to cable even though we had a dish.  Well, after 6 years, he's finally learned how to use the DTV receiver and is ready to ditch cable.  That's fine with me, but it does present a problem.


As I said before I have a lot of TVs.  I also have 5 Directv DVRs, 4 at the house and 1 at the office.  You'd think that'd be sufficient, but no.  When he subscribed to cable we could pump that signal to any "secondary" TV we had in the house but that's soon going away.  So, here's were I'm enlisting the advice of the 2o2p community. 


Is there a good system for distributing AV through the house to multiple TV locations.  For now the other TVs that would receive the signal are all standard def. units but if the signal could be distributed in HD that would make upgrading those TVs later easier.  It would be even sweeter if there were some sort of way to do it wirelessly over the network but that may be reaching.

Where do you have all these TVs? Please list. I thought that Dean and I had a lot. We're clearly totally TV-deprived with 3. \r \r Uh - no idea on your actual question.

Dude...are you running a commune? What I want to know is how many of these TV's are in bathrooms. Cuz' that is the ultimate in consumption. The shit goes in...the shit goes out.

You asked for it....\r \r 60\" - Basement\r 50\" - Family Room\r 42\" - Master Bedroom\r 13\" - Guest Bedroom\r 13\" - Kitchen\r 24\" - Home Office\r 36\" - Loft\r 20\" - 2nd Bedroom\r 19\" - Office Office\r 27\" - FiL Bedroom\r \r Those are the ones that are \"in use\"\r I have another 27\" and 13\" that are being stored and I've given away 2 TVs over the last year or so to charity.

I don't know about wireless, but with cables it can be done. Just remember that the TVs without boxes are stuck watching whatever the box there are feed from is tuned to.\r \r I have 9 TVs and a TV tuner all hooked up to cable. I just have basic and expanded service so that I don't need any boxes. That way, every TV can be tuned to what the viewer wants. Also, it makes it cheaper and easier to run.

That is the one advantage of cable. But you probably also want to get a distribution amplifier. Passive splitters would eat too much signal.

I am lucking, my signal strength is strong enough that I don't need an amplifier.
