Tron update 1-11-11
Its been a few weeks so time for an update. First off I have the side panels roughed out... and ready for the hours and hours of sanding to clean up the lines and get them nice and sharp. To make the side panels I'm using a material called kydex, its primaraly used in holster and sheath production. It will alow me to create a 3D shape and really capturing the feal of the tron costume. First I made a form out of particle board and melamine. then heated the kydex put it over my form and into a press.

Next I cut out my design. In my concept drawing I had the chest complete with the 4 circles. I decided to omit them so the main design could be bigger, plus I really was commited to making the vent scoops at the top work.

One of the more unique features if this xbox is that when you press the eject button the tron theme will play I went with a remix of end of line. when the disk is ejected the song has 50 seconds of playback then loops over and over till you close the tray.
I'm going to build a small speaker box so it will play both clearer and louder. here is a vid in action...
