Tough Day

Sad story, figure I should provide a disclaimer for those who don't want it. My Siberian Husky had to be laid to rest today. I haven't had to do something this tough in a long while. She was just shy of 12 years old and I had her since she was a pup. About 5 years ago she survived thyroid cancer. She was in good health until just before this last Christmas I noticed a tumor on her leg. Tests revealed more bad news but nothing as advanced as the lump on her leg. On Thursday I noticed her fur was gone from her lump and it was beginning to bleed out. Having never seen advanced cancer before I wasn't sure what to expect, but this was ugly. I'll spare the details.

This is the only pictue I have of her handy. It's tough to go through them right now.

Hang in there girl. You've got a good husband and some sweet kids. Not to mention the \"family\" you've adopted here.\r \r Remember, God is greater than all your problems.\r \r We all

so I'm reading this a week late and I apologize Beka. :-)\r \r what I want to say is to be \"stronger than the pain\", you don't need to fight it. being stronger than the pain, IMO, is not letting it have power.\r \r we are all human and there are times when our emotions get so strong that they need venting. :-)\r \r don't feel bad for being human. ;-)

Running is awesome. Get yourself an MP3 player and run to your hardest rock and roll. That always seems to burn away my stress :)

god, I remember when ellie was diagnosed. the dif between those who need to knwo everything and those who cant know anything must be hard to handle working with. I of course before I was a nurse, had to know everything, even to the point of consulting with the genetisist and wanted to share it with other parents...who didnt want to know

As an eleven year survivor of thyroid cancer, I still can't imagine what cancer patients requiring chemo go through. My dad had multiple myeloma and required chemo though not as extensively as some. He lasted a couple of years which I guess isn't too bad for that kind of cancer. He didn't talk about it much and I never went with him, my step mother did all that and I am grateful that I didn't.\r \r Thanks for being there for those patients and know that they appreciate what you do even as they may hate you for what you are giving them.

I recently put my beagle of 17 years down. I completely understand what you're going through and realize that this was more than a dog. My condolences...she is in a better place now.
