Took the Plunge
Got my 360 last night!!!
Spent all night setting it up and trying to get all my different devices wired into the receiver in a correct configuration. I'm still tryiing to figure out how to get my Xbox 180 wired back into the receiver, as I only have 3 ports for S-Video, and since I don't have a HDTV yet, I use S-Video for all my devices. This includes the Satellite, the DVD player, and now the 360. I hate playing the 180 on plain RCA jacks, as I can tell the difference between them and S-Video.
I may take the DVD player and move it into our bedroom since the 360 can basically replace it in all aspects except for the fact that it can't hold 5 DVDs/CDs like the DVD player can.
Also, I ran an optical cable with the 360. Holy shit. TRUE surround sound. I mean, I have surround sound before, but the 360 and my receiver communicate and the receiver actually configures itself to the surround sound that the media in the 360 is configured for. Wow.
I bought GoW and am playing around a bit. I still haven't recovered my LIVE account from my 180, but I will do that later today.
One important question.
Supposedly, you are supposed to be able to stream .wmv movies and other formats from your PC to the 360 now. However, when I go to download the software it requires on my PC, it doesn't install anything.
It has me download the "ZUNE" setup, which is the software I'm supposed to use (from what I read). However when I run the setup, it checks for updates, and then I get this message: "No New Software Updates Available"
WTF? Nothing is installed. I'm running Windows XP SP 2, so I don't understand why nothing is installed.
Anyone have any suggestions?
