Today's the day
At approximately 2:20PM ET, Megan will undergo her muscle biopsy and spinal tap. Stacy and I got to meet Dr. Schoffner yesterday. He won't be actually performing the biopsy, he is the doctor who will be in the lab going over the samples with a fine-toothed comb, working to figure out what is wrong with our daughter. He is super nice. Very soft spoken and reserved. He is actually one the leading Neuro-Geneticists in the country. He has patients sent to him from Harvard, The Mayo Clinic and elsewhere in the country. He doesn't get bogged down with numerous patients. He may see 50 patients a year. This allows him to be very thorough in his tests, not leaving any stone unturned. It will take about 8-12 weeks to get the results, but he will be sending us his notes and keeping us posted along the way. He made slight discovery in our meeting. Not as an underlying cause, but he suggested that her vomiting may be cause by migraines. Stacy and a lot of her family suffer from migraines. The thing is, with kids, that they do not get headaches, when they have a migraine. It goes to the stomach and causes frequent vomiting. Now, he said it wasn't the underlying cause to everything, but it could be a significant symptom of something larger. He went on to tell us that if he thought any other way, he would not be doing the biopsy, but her is convinced something is wrong with her and is VERY determined to find out what it is. When we left his office, we felt a tremendous amount of peace. We knew this is where God wanted us to be.
