tile is just about done
so. i figured out the hole in the floor issue. thanks for the pointers - it was gypcrete btw... just filled the hole in with some quick set filler. Worked great.
After about 3 days of work - most of it prep and laying down a Ditra subflooring, here is the just about finished product. As you can see i'm only about half way through cleaning off the grout residue. Need to seal the grout tonight. Finishing up the electrical work tonight. Drywall getting patched tomorrow. Cabinets and appliances come Friday! Plumber comes on Sat to hook all the plumbing back up. Should have my kitchen back by Sat night! I've been without a kitchen for about 3 weeks now.

I know how you feel. I wanted a kitchen REALLY bad. I redesigned it myself. took the plans to Home Depot and the cost was eye opening - so put it on hold. This year there have been so many sales on cabinets and counters that I could afford to do it.\r

took my kitchen from a paultry hardly usable 4x12 area to a full blown 8 x 17 (not including cabinets). I'll post a pic once the cabinets are in.
That looks great - i've got a desk job so its very satisfying to do something like this and you feel accomplished...its just such a long-haul-pain-in-the-ass... I won't let my wife see this or I will be doing my kitchen.
