Thinking about Getting a motorcycle

Let me start by saying that I've never owned a bike. That being said, I've always wanted to learn. With gas going up & up I've been seriously considering purchasing my 1st bike. Now don't get me wrong all you harley lovers, But I've always leaned towards the sport bike side of thing as opposed to cruisers.I'm not looking for a ton of power for my first bike so I've been considering the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. 50-60 mpg & the $3500 price tag suits me really well. Any Suggestions or tips from anyone with experience would be appreciated.BTW here's a pic...

I think it's about damn time they made the 250 hawt. If you've never been on a bike you'll have a blast. Its fast enough to have fun on but docile enough to learn all the basics without scaring yourself silly. And did I mention it looks hot?? It will probably hold it's resale value great too.

You may want to consider a naked bike without the fairings. Cosmetic damage/cracks to the fairings can amount to a fair amount of dollars to replace/repair. And you will drop the bike at least once.
