The Xbox360 Demo Effect
So I think it's well known by now that a great demo sells a great game.
I got to thinking - what successful games have never had demo's released on the marketplace? I came up with Gears of War and Oblivion. Can anyone think of others?
Also, some titles which were quite poorly advertised or not well known became much better known and played as a result of ther demos. Dead Rising comes to mind.
What games come to your mind for demo's either selling the game or being conspicuously absent?

The demo for Saint's Row convinced a bunch of us to buy it.
R6 demo had me at hello. :D\r

COD3 didn't have a demo unfortunately. Would have saved me $25 I lost on the return. :(
Many of the arcade titles have convinced me to just dl the demo, like Pac-Man, Joust and Frogger. These are fun little games for about 5-10 mins, but given the board doesn't really change a demo is enough:) I wish they had a Chromehound demo so I could try it out, although I am convinced I wouldn't want to buy it.
More often than not a demo has turned me off. The only demos that got me to buy games right off were Crackdown and BFME2. Every other XBL demo put me off. \r

Alot of the time I have to rent a game to get a good feel for it (R6V was one) because the demo is not enough to make a decision. \r

As for Gears and Oblivion, the huge games don't need demos.
