The ugliest creature you've ever seen

This little guy was left, temporarily thank goodness, with his sister in the backyard of our cottage during the torrential rainstorms and associated floods which occurred a couple of weeks ago.  They were nestled down in the ferns for about three hours.  Eventually, Mom came back and led them away.
