The New Ride

Well, it's now the end of the first weekend of ownership for my new car, and I'm cautiously optimistic for the drive into work tomorrow.  I've tooled around the neighborhood a little, but did more laps than I care to count in the parking lot of the local high school.  First gear is still a litle tricky, but I'd say I'm 95% first attempts now, so I'm comfortable with that.  I'm still trying to get that sweet spot between RPMs vs. clutch activity, but that'll come with time.  Either way, I absolutely love the feel of the car, how it handles (once I get it going View Image), etc. etc.  Combined with the excellent deal thanks to our global economy, and Balek is one happy camper.

As promised, here are a few quick pics of the car taken today.  Enjoy!

You missed a spot :)\r \r Is that a special mustang badge it has? Care to take a closeup of it?\r \r I had a 98 GT. I really miss that car but the winter driving with that much power in a RWD 5 speed car got old real fast on a daily basis. But it was a fun car in the summer.

People have trouble learning clutch because they try to coordinate their feet like an experienced driver. Simplify the situation by working with the feet independently - ncrease the rpm's a little, then ease off the clutch until you feel it engage, then add just a little more gas. think of the feet independently, right, left, right. You'll smooth out in a couple of days. Don't be shy about using the hand brake on hills.

@william - thanks for the advice. I tried the handbrake a bit yesterday, but think that adding in yet another appendage into the mix (or at least another use for the right hand) isn't up my alley. I just need to be more cautious how I come off the clutch on a hill I think...it'll come with time I'm sure. :)
