The Latest Super-Smart Marketing Idea
I have been having internet problems for the past week. Occasionally my modem resets and when it comes back up, the 'online' light is steadily blinking. I've tried all of the standard fixes that Cox will tell you about when you phone in, despite you telling them that you've done it already--unplug this. Unplug that. Restart this. Restart that. Wait it didn't work? No dipshit, I've restarted everything 10 times already as I told you before.
So the lady tells me there appears to be a problem with my connection and they have to send someone out. Now they just sent someone out a few weeks ago because the signal was weak to my room--they supposedly 'boosted' it. I tell her this and it's like I'm shooting bb's at a battleship. The words just don't penetrate through her thick skull and she goes directly into a spiel about how the tech MAY decide to assess a 49.95 service fee when he comes out. So I blow up. What the hell are you talking about, I pay XXX.XX per month for this god damn service and now you are charging me in addition to it? Oh but wait--they can sign you up for a 3.00 a month service contract in which case the fee will be waived, can we sign you up right now? Listen lady, (I really said that), I'm not going to pay insurance for the service you are providing. Either fix my god damn internet or don't but I'm not paying extra for the service I ALREADY PAY FOR. She says well, he may not assess the charge anyway--if it's outside the house, or Cox's problem, there's no fee. But if the problem is inside my house (including, I assume, the wiring that THEY installed) or my modem, I will get charged. I said, if you try to charge me 50 bucks, not only will I not pay that but I will immediately box up my shit, drive down to the office and cancel my account. Yes I will do that. I've had enough with these fuckers and I'm going with Direct TV.
How the fuck do they think it's a good idea to charge me to fix my connection? Is it because I just had them out a few weeks ago to fix THEIR damn problem and now I'm a repeat offender? I have a feeling it's one of those 'bothersome customer' bullshit things, even though I've only had them out maybe 3 times in 8 years, every single time it was their damn problem. I was so angry last night I almost threw my cell phone, which would have been awesome because then I'dve had to deal with THOSE rotten sons of bitches. Maybe I could then call up SRP, my power company, and get the fucking Customer Service Asshole Trifecta.
