The Griswald Adventure Continues....

We are here in beautiful Emporia, KS after an eventful 7 hour drive yesterday.

Did I say eventful? Downright nerve-racking.

5 people in a Honda Accord traveling 7 hours for Thanksgiving dinner and a wedding on Saturday.

My wife gets my anxiety flowing early by making some assumptions that I interpret as accusations. The in-laws are constantly bickering. What a joyous family outing.

We finally find our Hotel, and get ready to head onto the Thanksgiving Dinner. Oh boy. "This way!" "No, this way!" and back and forth. I'm driving and relying on these people for directions. Finally I get fed up, pull into a gas station, where my monster-in-law preceeds to have a total meltdown yelling "I'm sorry we're so stupid and retarded!"  I can't disagree.

I go into the gas station and get very simple directions.

After Thanksgiving dinner, we head back to the hotel. Well, the Griswalds have struck again. They only booked 2 hotel rooms. Problem is, is my wife's brother and his wife have showed up at the last 2nd. No one wants to sleep with the Monster-in-law and father-in-law because they are horrible snorers.

So that leaves me, my wife, my child, my brother-in-law and his wife, in a room with 2 double beds. Ain't. Going. To. Happen. Sorry, but I like my privacy and comfort, and 5 people in one room with 2 beds doesn't cut it. (and the high-speed internet didn't work in that room)

So at 10pm last night, I go and get us another room for my family to stay in. Crisis solved in that respect.

Today, the family is going to go and help my wife's cousin prep for her wedding. Me? No way in hell. I'm going to my sister who lives about an hour away, and drink beer and watch the Nebraska Cornhuskers play Colorado. I'll probably return home later in the evening if I can.

Oh, and my sister has an Xbox 360 and 180, and 2 step-sons who both play Halo (and I pwn) so I'll be able to get some gaming in this weekend afterall.

I'll try and post more tomorrow, as I am sure this is only another chapter in the Griswald adventures.
