Street Fighter IV
Picked up this game and my god. Suddenly i'm a kid again, i remember growing up with this game on the SNES. The amount of time (and quarters) i spent on this game alone is probably enough that if we were to distribute the wealth evenly, we could really stimulate the economy and pay of our national debt.
The moves are the same (though hard to pull off with the normal controller) and hits feel hard. Which is something i haven't found most games to have anymore, i think mortal kombat was the last game that felt like you were hitting hard. So that's a plus.
Medium difficulty, more like hard difficulty is extremely frustrating. But so far, this game is like a new puppy, i just can't stay mad it. Even when the last guy whoops my ass 12 times in a row. All is forgiven Street Fighter, i'm sorry for yelling at you....come back to bed....
EDIT:
Upon further review and play there are a few things that don't make sense, none of it however detracts from the fact that the game is awesome. First of all, the music. really? But I rather see the budget being used for the combat and graphics.
Well, being a designer makes me pretty finnicky about stuff i see. For example, if a shop uses a font or has graphics that i think are ugly, i will be less motivated to even look in the window, so i'm a bit skeptic about the choices they made in regards to the background for the VS screen and the type that they used, but those are minor details. The voiceovers however, are terrible. Especially the dude that is talking like he is the referee or whatever. His voice annoys the crap outta me.
I've played through the game enough to have unlocked all the characters and some of the intro movies and endings don't really add up, i like that the franchise has moved to string everything together, but the cut scenes seem a bit weird, granted i've only seen the endings for the easiest mode and therefore are probably shorter (if it's anything like SF II) but i wish they would have used the modeled characters rather than some anime-ish type stuff. Oh well, it's still a beautiful thing.
