Some kinda virus going around....
The report from Cleveland is that the whole family's been sick. The report from here in Marietta, OH is pretty much the same. I have been down for a few days with an upset stomach (and other complaints I am too polite to mention here!). It sounds like I got the better part of the deal, though, because other ppl have told me they spent at least one night camped out in the bathroom. So, I'll just take my tummy ache and feel pretty lucky!
The kids had their Trick Or Treat night last night in Cleveland. I would have loved to drive up for the day, but the gasoline budget wouldn't allow it. I could probably get there on what I have in the tank but the return trip would be a disaster! Might be a good way to get a couple of days off!
The other guys at work seem to think that since I'm not on the air anymore, I'm not really working. They'll come into my office with the day's latest computer casualty spread out on my desk and assume that "since your not doing anything, would you mind helping me with the phone?" Oh, sure. I'll just put off this on-air computer fix until the listeners storm the station....... The new morning guy (the old midday guy) actually said to me "Wow, these mornings are a killer. Now I see why you never wanted to do anything in the afternoons." Never wanted to do anything? Like take care of the spot traffic, billing, order entry, production work and IT department? I have come to realize that we all look at the world in very different ways.
Have been having some GREAT fun at the 2o2p TF2 server. We all seem to agree that it's one of the best around.... folks communicate, work for the good of the team, actually *gasp* ask how they can better help the effort and just have a good time. My steam rating is 10.0...... I think that means I am a champion time-waster!
One of the only good things about living here alone (hopefully a very temporary circumstance) is that I have time to play around in the evenings. Also, there is very little guilt if I have to run up to the station after hours to put out the latest fire. Of course, the bad part is that it is very, very lonely. The cat and I had a bit of a falling out yesterday about petting/sleeping time and are not on speaking terms at the moment. She is scared to death of me until I sit or lie down. Then, it's time to loudly demand attention. If I think it's time to go to sleep, she will go nose to nose with me and just stare until I either give in or shoo her out of the room. I guess beggars can't be choosers!
I'm still trying to figure out who to give the gift HL2 and Ep 1 I got with the Orange Box. I think my brother would like it, but I haven't managed to get a straight answer on his computer specs, so I don't know how well it will run.
