So I'm back on Kelleys Island this weekend - just can't get enough of the place and if you read my earlier blog, you know why.


Anyways, I'm sitting out on my grandparents porch facing the lake talking to my uncle.  My aunt (his wife, my godmother) walks up behind him and says, "the girls are going out shopping, how do I look?"  And without flinching, missing a beat or even hesitating for half a heartbeat, he says "Great!" loud enough for her to hear. 


She continues on talking to others on the porch - "Should I brush my hair?"  Again, he's all over it with the no-look response - "You look great!"


(clap)(clap)(clap)


And I think to myself, there's a man who was brought up RIGHT!

Yeah - my husband does that too. Now I'm just teaching him to turn around and look at me first before he responds.

So you feel that it is right for a man to not even respect his wife enough to actually look at her when she asks him such a question? Are us women that non-entities to you that we don't even deserve a look before responding to us? The only goal here is to avoid confrontation? I don't understand.

never EVER LOOK. if you look, you need to evaluate, you need to check - if you speak without looking you sound like you are sure of yourself without having to \"check\".\r \r no wonder my marriage is so good :)

Yes I believe the only goal in my life is to avoid confrontation. So she always looks good. I don't have to look.

hmmm.. .and i'm the opposite - I always think that my woman would think that I was just saying that she looked good to patronize her without being honest, so I always look and tell the truth. I'm a truthsayer - lol. Avoiding confrontation is not really me (my translation: lying to make people feel better is not me). I mean, if the truth causes confrontation, that isn't my issue. You can receive the truth and choose how to react - if my opinion is so valuable to you, don't ask for it unless you are prepared for the truth :-)
