sick kids

Last night was the pits.  Both kids spiked a fever right in the middle of my Texas holdem game with Kekule.  Crying, screaming all night long.  Where's Urinal cake?  Idaho,  thanks to the military.  104 was the highest temp. of the night.  F.Y.I to all the parents of infants to 5 yr olds.  FEBRILE SEISURES.  My 2 yr old kept having these "shivering" episodes.  His whole body would stiffen up and jolt, very quick, then he would scream.  This would happen about every 4 hrs.

Signs and symptoms

Signs and symptoms of a febrile seizure can range from mild — rolling of the eyes — to more severe shaking or tightening of the muscles.

The child having a febrile seizure may:

  • Have a fever — usually higher than 102 F
  • Lose consciousness
  • Shake or jerk the arms and legs on both sides of the body
  • Roll his or her eyes back in the head
  • Have trouble breathing
  • Lose urine
  • Vomit
  • Cry or moan

Febrile seizures are classified as simple or complex:

  • Simple febrile seizures. These are the most common. They last from a few seconds to 15 minutes and stop on their own. After the seizure, your child may cry, act confused, or be quite sleepy.

Everytime this child has a fever he has these.  Did I know what they where? NO!  I figured it was just a shivering type jerk, like when "WE" are sick, we all kinda "jerk" alittle bit, right?  Well, going to the Ped. doctor today.  Hope all is well.

my son had a febrile seizure when he was 3. Most scary moment I ever had in my life.\r I was down stairs playing and my wife screamed.\r \"come up and see this something is wrong with nicholas.\"\r When I got into his room he was standing up and his eyes had roled back.\r I grabed him run downstairs layed him on the kitchen counter and called 911. He never had the shaking just the yeye rolling and come back after a few minutes, even before the paramedics arrived.\r All i did was take his clothes out and tried to cool him off using a book to wave.\r From then on when the kids have fever, either me or my wife will slepp with them.\r A friend of mine had the same happen to his daughter and unfortunally no one was near by, and the baby suffred permanent brain damage.\r It is very comon, more than what people think.\r I hope your kids get well fast. My son is also with asma for the last few days.\r

oh wow Moos! No fun!\r Another fact about them is that once they have them the first time, they are more susceptible to them again later on. \r Sorry for the sick babies, I hope they get better soon! (Or at least sleep alot so you keep your sanity)
