Ruminations of a second childhood (Pt 1)

You know, I must be going through a second childhood. I am 48, graduating with a B.F.A. in television production, applying to grad school, and I just bought an Xbox 360 - I also preordered GoW. I hope this doesn't end like American Beauty. I am very new to this world of on-line gaming, but I can still remember playing Pong on a black and white television. I doubt I have the reflexes of a 15-year-old, but I can be devious... My inital thoughts on the 360: As an Apple user I tend to avoid all things Microsoft, so this is kinda like going over to the Dark Side. I can see the possibilities in its design; the removable HD will allow for system expansion, while the media capabilities are fairly impressive. The interface is still somewhat complicated for most people who can't program a VCR. Also, the DVD controls on the Media Controller should work even if the remote is selected to TV. As a student in Mass Communications, I can see the possibilities in video games as a communications medium. This is a field of study that is very new. While most of the visitors to this website really just want to shoot something, there is smoething that could warrant serious academic study. See you soon - can't wait for Emergence Day.

Welcome to 1984, Convert #86673B.\r \r It was the high brother's plan, even with the Xbox, to be the entertainment hub in your den.\r \r What is a BFA? Is it named after Bea Arthur? It is television afterall.

My guess is BFA is Bachelor's of Fine Arts. That said, you will be hooked on the 360. Entertainment is what this is all about. Whether it is gaming, information, videos, or movies. It is here to stay! Glad you found us!
