Project Sylpheed?

Does anyone know if the new "Project Sylpheed" bears any relationship to the game of the same name published by Sierra in the late 80's / early 90's?  I believe it was a sequel to Thexder...anyone remember that?

Hmm. I remember both Thexder & Sylpheed. An updated version for the 360 would be cool!

Thexder - that was kinda like Metroid, only for the PC. Good game at the time.
