One more time...with feeling!

So, I'm not a very consistent blogger. Sure I've blessed the interwebs with my occasional bursts of brilliance from time to time, but I've not been the model of consistency. That's probably all going to change, at least for this semester.

I've signed up for a class at the college where my wife works called "Creative Uses for the Computer in Ministry." Yes, I'm a pastor at a small rural church and I thought that this class might be beneficial for me and the congregation I serve. The bonus is that I get an iPad for taking this class! I'll let you know if it turns out to be usefull for for me, or just something to watch Netflix on while in bed.

If any of you have an iPad and use it for work or play, please shoot me some ideas for apps i need to check out. I'm a DROID guy, so treat me gently - please...

I know there are various versions of the Bible you can download, some as standalone apps, some as an iBook or Kindle download. A quick scan of the Apple App Store shows 2 potential candidates for you - Sermon.net, which allows for streaming and the like. Also, SermonNotes, (3.99).\r \r I don't know anything about this stuff myself, but I have a friend who does some sort of minister type stuff for his church. I can ask him to see if he has any ideas.

Numbers and Pages are awesome and very useful. You can get a free iWorks account which will allow you to print your creations out, unless you happen to have an airprint printer that allows you to print directly from your iPad. Also apps, such as Units and Wikipanion are good as well. I might also suggest to see if your cable provider has a DVR Manager like Fios. I can schedule recordings, etc.... from anywhere. Dragon Dictation might be handy as well, which is pretty good at talk to text, and notices most accents and dialects.
