New to 2o2p

Well, I have been a member for a bit over a week and its been great. I found out about this site from the XBL community night ad. Unfortunately, I was too late to get in on the Feb 8 event, but glad I joined up.

I am 42, married with 2 kids - a boy 12 and a girl 10. I live a "respectable" life in the day but now find myself immersed in the dark underworld of XBL. Staying up way too late during the week....

My first 'video' game was chess on my Radio Shack TRS 80 complete with cassette tape memory. And I also had the Radio Shack version of pong, etc. There were many lost years between that time and my Ninendo 64. In that time, I had mostly hand held games like Mattel football - with blinking dots and arcade games, Gyruss and Galaga were faves. BTW, I actually wrote a simple text based exploration program on an IBM 3033 mainframe - did it for fun when I was 13. If only I had known that the video game thing would turn out to be big business, oh well.

Picked up my first Xbox to play Halo and fell in love with console games. Bought lots of different ones but really like FPS games the most. Played Halo and H2 until I wore them out. Eventually had to buy a 360 to play H3 and also discovered GOW. Bought GOW2 on 'day 1'. I used to have DSL only so I didn't sign up for XBL until just recently since I didn't have the necessary speed. So been through most games solo campaign and in co-op with my son.

Now, looking forward to playing multiplayer and meeting some cool folks. My experience so far has been great and everyone is pretty friendly. With all the influx of new members following the Community playdate advertising, it looks like things will be pretty active for a while. Thanks to all the experienced members for the welcome and hello to all the noobs who just joined up.
