My thoughts on Peggle

Ho-lee shit, this game is addictive.  I have no idea why I can't stop wanting to play it, and it's kind of freaking me out.

Also my Xbox bricked on Tuesday.  It was an old Pro, I bought it in March of '06 and it's technically my fourth 360, but those golden years of warranty coverage are behind it now and there are better chipsets to be had. I ran out and bought an Arcade (total time off XBox Live-45 minutes) with the in-store warranty (which I hadn't bought the first time around but gamed with someone who had, and who never let me forget about it on those long, dark days spent waiting on that box from Texas).  I ended up with a brand-spankin' new Jasper/Liteon and it runs so quietly that I sometimes forget it's on at all.

So I did what any self-respecting geek would do with a redundant, out-of-warranty 360.

And now that that's over with, I have quietly reassessed my intentions for the console, and come to the conclusion that I don't want to use it to cheat or steal games.  I'd just like it to be fixed so I could potentially have 2 systems hooked up (only the new one online, of course) and use my computer monitor as a secondary television.  Or vice versa.  Whatever.  Anyway, if anyone here knows anything about DIY fixes then holla at ya boy. I didn't get RRoD or whatever that new big error is, I was playing Lego Batman and it just froze.  So I turned it off and I heard that popping sound that everyone who's ever bricked a system knows and fears, and now when it turns on it doesn't boot, but there's power to the DVD drive and the power brick's light is green. When I popped the cover I noticed a little heat discoloration on the metal cover (on the inside of the top of the console), but no warpage. Nothing on the motherboard had obviously fried, but I didn't pop off the heatshields since I know enough to quit while I'm ahead.

Ideally, I'd like to just fix whatever it is, I don't want to get into flashing/custom firmware unless I have to. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'll buy you a beer at the LAN.

Cheers.
