Alienware's ginormous 42" curved monitor aims to absolutely suck you into your games. It "only" has a resolution of 2880x900, so traditional multi-monitor setups can provide a higher combined resolution. However, Alienware's monitor lacks the distracting bezels and awkward positioning angles that those of us who use multiple monitors have grown used to.
The curved setup provides a 90-degree viewing angle that mimics how we look at the world in a much more natural way. It uses DLP technology to achieve this seamless look, and is backlit by high-power OSRAM LEDs. With an ultra-low 0.02 response time, it will provide a flicker-free gaming experience. The display did have the softer look that DLP technology has, but at no time was it fuzzy or looked out of focus. Three faint vertical lines also showed up on the monitor where the images converge, however this is a prototype unit and I was assured that the issue would be resolved by the time it debuts for retail in the second half of this year.
