Movie Night

T
Twisted

So saturday night is traditionally when the Mrs and I sit and watch a movie.

Wasnt anything on TV, nothing on pay-per-view (well there was, but nothing SHE wanted to watch, but Im

sure 'Double D Nurses' will be on some other time) so I went to go rent something.

EVERYTHING worth seeing was rented out except for some zombie movies that the wife, for reasons unknown to me, has no taste for.

On the 'For Sale' shelf was 'Sweeney Todd'. If you are unfamiliar, is by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter. I recalled the Mrs showed an interest in seeing that and although Im not particularly a big Tim Burton

fan, the front of it said it won best actor and best picture at the Golden Globes.

Eh, ten bucks. What the hell. That Depp guy was pretty funny in the Pirates movie.

So I get it home and the wife looks at it and expresses surprise that I picked that one up. I played the considerate husband

card and told her I got it because I knew she wanted to see it.

She said she was especially surprised considering it was a musical.

A fucking what? Come again?

Nobody told me it was a frickin sing-along.

At first I thought she was kidding. Then the first actor for no good reason starts yodeling away like it was a Disney flick.

I was half expecting cartoon birds to come flittering in.

So after 116 minutes of Karaoke hell I came to this conclusion;

Costumes; cool. Sets/environment; cool. Almosphere; cool. Enough blood to make a vampire puke; cool.

Whats with the damn singing?! Its like watching 'Silence of the Lambs- Everybody is Wearing a Mr Peanut Suit ' edition.

Why take a perfectly good crazy violent slasher/revenge flick and add a ridiculous element to it like everybody wearing a Mr Peanut suit, or even worse, SING the freaking dialogue?

Oh well. I did make her sit through the first 'Hulk' movie. I guess its karma coming to bite me in the ass.

Anyway. Heres another tarot card in the spirit of 'Sweeney Todd' minus the yodelling.

Oh, and sorry about the watermark. Couldnt find a finished version without it.

Good to know your having fun in Shadowrun. We rented it a couple weeks and I had a blast, I am waiting for the price to come down before buying. Teddybear doesn't more my game style) but if your playing with him and I come in he will be saying he has gotta get off because I want my turn on the XBox!!!\r We need to do a trading spouses, because my husband never plans ANYTHING for me other than going over to his parents house. You offer me a night without kids and I am outta there like a bat outta hell!!!

For the record, Im not dissing people who like musicals.\r I have a medical condition that causes me to punch people in the groin when I hear singing.\r 'American Idol' causes me great discomfort and bowel distress.\r My wife watches it and I have to leave the house.\r \r I think it stems from the fact I had a roommate back in the day who would sing incessantly despite the many administered beatings.\r I even held him down and ripped out his toe hair.\r \r He. Wouldnt. Stop. Singing.
