Mother's Day thoughts

Today is Mother's Day.  Yes, I am a mother, and a grandmother....  But, I know I will not hear from my son, just because.  And, my daughter will likely call me, or send me an ecard.  Hubby says I am not his mother, altho he offered to take me to lunch.  Not!  I do not go out to eat on the busiest day of the year for restaurants.  Any waitress/past waitress knows, just stay home!  Let hubby or family cook for you.  I haven't had a mother for many years, so I don't have to remember to send a card or make a call.  Ack!  Not my favorite day of the year.  My parents had me late in life, so I felt like I was too young to lose my mother when I did, altho, she was plenty old enough.  I have blogged before about loss and how I don't deal well with it.  I'm ok most of the time, but days like today, when I remember my mother, and my kids often forget theirs, I sorta get a bit bummed.  Now, my daughter has gotten better as she has gotten older.  She is a wonderful wife, mother, and a nurse, like me.  But, she does have a poor memory....

So, hubby gave me a choice of out to lunch or spaghetti.  Well, shpaghetti is home-made, secret family recipe that is very yummy, but not so special since we have it very often.  Am I special?  Oh yeh!  I know I am.  It's just that spaghetti is NOT!  You would think after all these years I would be used to it......
