More COD 4 Beta Impressions...

Played some COD4 goodness last night.  I'm finally getting a feel for the M249 SAW.  Actually kicked some ass with it last night.  I'm learning that I can't rambo like I do in H2 and expect to kill more than 1 person.  That requires the ability to headshot in the game which I haven't gotten down yet.

I also changed my look sensitivity back to "medium" as when it was on "high" I was over-sweeping with my weapon and missing people.  I also changed my button lay-out from "Tactical" back to "Default".  I was losing to many close melee attacks because I had to take my thumb off the right stick to hit "B" to melee.  This way, all I have to do is press down on the right thumb-stick to melee.  Should have been doing that all along.

I also made some slight adjustments to some of my custom classes.  I took the silencer off my M4 for CQB games (Vacant) as it was reducing my range and put my red-dot site back on.  I felt range trumps invisibility any day.

I'm using the M16 w/ACOG sight less and less for "Overgrown" and sticking to my trusty M4 and RPGs.  M4 on Vacant, but instead of RPGs, which a lot of people like, I have x3 stun grenades which I really like and are very effective used correctly.

I've been playing with the M249 SAW more and more on "Crash" as it is pretty lethal with its rate of fire and "Deep Impact" as a perk.

Need more practice with the sniper.  I like using the M21, which is a modified M14.  But all too often, I'm killed while I'm scoped-in on targets.  I think it's mostly because I don't click down on the left thumb stick to steady myself, and I don't take up a good enough sniping position that allows me concealment from the opposing team.

Still a kick-ass game.  I have some really good games, where I'll go 20-10, then I'll have some games where I go 8-16.  Mostly though, I hover around 12-18 kills a game with 7-12 deaths.

Then there are players like Netw3rk who is just a natural at the game and typically gets 20+ kills every game.  Hell, JeepChick had a friend in the game last night that went something like 42-12.  The next player on his team had 12 kills.  I believe his team won.  Unreal.

BTW, JeepChick and Doodi are no slouches themselves.

I agree on the stun grenades. You can screw a lot of dudes up on Vacant with them, especially if they bunch together.\r \r I've found them pretty useless on Overgrown, though.

Yeah i also use the Stun Grenades as well. Ever notice if you use Flash Grenades, keep an Eye on your Enemy and watch as he puts his arm in front of his Eyes. Pretty cool

Stunners are the shiznit, with deep impact on the M4 on Vacant, you can kick some serious ass. I'm finding myself using the M4 quite a bit, where I started with the SAW for the rate and amount of ammo. Now it's a constant vigilance that keeps me from reloading the SAW after every little skirmish- old habits die hard! :)
