Ok, back in the 70s I had this little hippie red, white and blue transistor radio I used to keep under my pillow when I was in bed. I'd listen to White Sox games when they were on the west coast, but mostly I had it tuned in to WLS radio and would drift off to sleep with contemporary music droning amidst the static. Sound familiar? Betting many of you did something similar. So I got to thinking about some of the songs that stuck with me decades later. They weren't necessarily great songs, and they probably haven't aged particularly well. But there's something to be said for nostalgia. That what I love about music; its so emotional, so deeply personal and hearing a song or melody out of nowhere can trigger some fantastic memories that had been buried for decades.

The genres of some of these songs will probably shock you. This was still a few years before I discovered Iron Maiden lol. I was raised on country and...polkas. Yep, I still enjoy polkas to this day. True story. Quick side note: I was a bit shocked to see how many of these songs had "Glee" versions. Meh. So here we go, I wonder how many of you will recognize these songs.

Aaaaaand...gonna stop there. There's a lot more I've found as I searched for these videos but I think this is a good sampling. I held off on some "novelty" songs I grew up with for now, those will get their own blog. Most of them are actually pre-1970 so they didn't fit the theme anyway. Hope you guys enjoy this trip down memory lane as much as I did.

EDIT: Added the last video after posting the blog, can't leave this one out!

On another note, a big thanks to the mods who cleaned up the spam this morning. One of those pricks had over 220 posts by himself and I saw at least 4 new spam accounts wreaking havoc on the board. So nice job guys, hopefully once V3 goes live you won't have to do that anymore.

lol...hey, I like 80s music too. Any enjoyment gained from listening to these songs is purely subjective. :)

XM Radio 70's on 7 replays the original American Top Forty with Casey Casem on Saturdays. Has all the 70's tunes you'll ever need.

FYI - cleaning out today and found my wife has the original sheet music to \"Music Box Dancer\", and got a chuckle out of it.
