Monkey versus Robot! Part 2

I've narrowed my computer problems down to two possibilities. Both seem to be highly probable at this point.

1.) RAM has gone bad.
2.) Video Card drivers

Last night my PC reset itself when I was trying to capture some video with my new cap card, it gave me no driver error when it came back up. So I thought...well its a memory failure or something then. Going with that, I removed my 2 oldest sticks of RAM, started the machine...kosher for a long while.

Ran Firefox, BitLord and a couple other RAM-hoggish programs....and even listened to an MP3 while I was at it. No hickup. A little slow...but thats because almost 1GB of RAM had been removed. So no surprise there.

Closed all that out....started up my capture device. Went to capture a video with VirtualDub (because the software that came with the card sucks balls), and it goes ok for a few clips...then my pc restarts on its own again.

So I go into system preferences and turn off "Reboot on Fail". Started it back up....and it ran fine for a while.

Tonight I'm gonna try to find an older driver for my video card and see if thats been the thing shitting bricks in my system.
I'm gonna figure this shit out if it kills me.

In other news:
Lost Odyssey drops today. I'm stoked for it. I loves me some JRPGs....so this'll be a real treat since Blue Dragon was more than a little dissapointing.
Might also pick up GRAW2 to play with the clan. Dunno if I'll like it or not though. Got the 1st one and liked it ok...just could never get a MP match going. By the time I got a 360 it wasn't the "ZOMG Get this!" game anymore.

Not sure if I'm gonna like it...because I've heard it being compared to COD4 & RB6:Vegas gameplay. I love Vegas...but not a COD4 fan.
Is it worth picking up if I can snag it for a good used price?

Doesn'ts ound like a memory issue at all. It sounds like it's most likely a resource conflict especially if that card is new. Like overlapping IRQs or something. it could also be a bad driver install and some type of software conflict. so i'd go ahead and put the ram back in your computer.

I'll try fidgeting with the video card tonight and see if that does the trick.\r \r I downloaded the drivers from the companies website (EVGA), so i guess I'll use the drivers from my installation disc instead this time and see if that works better.

You might be underpowering the card as well. I would look at a new PSU if you current one is not up to spec.

Based on your descriptions, i would suggest you try reseating the RAM if you haven't already. I have had bad or dirty RAM do this to a lot of machines. \r \r However, Power Supplies can cause this as well, but with my experiences, it's been RAM.
