Making enemies, one by one

I put a Darwin fish decal on my car.------> made some enemies at work

I put a Flying Spaghetti Monster decal on my car because I think Pastafarianism is funny, and posted a pic of it on Facebook------> made some enemies on Facebook (mostly my family)

I took a pic of the dinosaur eating a fish decal that's on Matt's car and posted it on Facebook-----> made some enemies (entirely my family) who felt it necessary to say, "How sad. I hope that's not your sentiment." My response.... "No, I don't actually believe dinosaurs ate Christians." What I wanted to continue with but decided not to: "This isn't specifically a Christian fish though. I'm pretty sure dinosaurs ate just the regular ones."

It's hard not to needle the Indoctrinated. Since the one who made the comment is my cousin, and I happen to like her, I stopped myself from entering the entire reply.

If you rip the decal off my car do you really think you're going to change my belief system? "The decal is gone! *GASP!* I'm reformed! I've seen the light."   No.

If you meet an athiest would you try to "convert" them or "make them believers"? How about we start we the athiests then move onto Judaism, Buddhism and Mormonism and "correct" them too? In fact, let's just round up ALL the -"ism"s and set them straight. (You should be reading this with a great deal of sarcasm.) I don't ask you to renounce your beliefs, don't ask me to renounce mine or accept yours by force.

How many enemies did I make by creating this post? (Only 1 I know of for sure, but she hates me like poison simply for existing anyway. I miss being a thorn in her side sometimes. It puts such an evil grin on my face.)

I am a Christian but was not offended. As far as conversions go though...umm yeah our great mandate is to make disciples of all nations...the good news (pun not intended) is that there is no prejudice about who we try to convert...they are all equally in need of conversion so to speak. Personally, I don't usually bother discussing beliefs or trrying to persuade people who are set in their ways of thinking, just as I don't appriciate Jehovah's Witnesses or whomever trying to prrostelize me. The best conversations about God are always the ones that when both people are open minded and not me challenging the other persons beliefs.

I never find it is necessary to wear my beliefs on my sleeve. Sure it might be fun to piss off people, but I prefer to do it to their face.

Its a funny world we live in. Personally I believe God has a brilliant sense of humour and I'm sure He (or She) is having a great laugh at all this. I've got a great joke some might find offensive, PM me and I'll send it to you ;)

Never try to convert people. Atheists are the true masters of converting. Where a Hari-Khrisna is happy to give you a leaflet or a flower and send you on your merry way while his friends are jingling around you with their little cymbals, an atheist while have you listen for hours to his self-righteous non-believe in a higher being.\r \r As a muslim, the Qui'ran tells me to bring understanding to those who don't understand. (That is, it's not the message of Allah one must extend, but the message of the faith as a whole.) However, the wording of it is ambivalent. Should I do it, I'm one step on the way to being a good little muslim, should I not do it, it's between Allah and myself at my final judgement. (Think -1 virgin or whatever, I don't know.)\r \r It's why I routineously sign off with \"Allah loves you!\" in my blog. I know he does, but I wholeheartedly believe I shouldn't \"convert\" beyond that simple message.\r \r Faith is highly personal. Whether you believe in the healing power of tiger-penises or in the fire and sword of the Arch-angel Gabriel. If you find strength, then it works.\r \r Conundrum:\r Is non-believing believing that you don't?

Crap like people feeling it's their job to convert people to their religion is why I hate religions. Not God mind you, I believe in Him. But man can take a perfectly good idea and fuck it up with their opinion.\r
