On the local front, here in SC, Spurrier is up to his old tricks again. USC is poised to have the best team on the field at every position (except OL) and challenge for the east title. Last week Spurrier took a pop shot at Tenn. by saying something to the effect of, at least we're not like Tenn. trying to get outta games w/NC. Spurrier has not been very vocal during his time here, except when he believes his team can back up his mouth.

On the national level, Vince Sculley of L.A. Dodgers announced he would sign on for his 62 (i think) year calling the games. Heard on the radio, he started at age 20 and is now 82. That is some serious love for your job...

I too, am buying into this notion that SC has the tools to compete for the SEC East.\r \r In the east, I think SC has a real shot (could win 4/5 eastern games), but they're playing three very good western division teams. @API, Bama and Arky at home. \r \r Looking at UGA, they've got Western games against Ark at home, and on the road against MSU and Auburn. Florida is at Tuscaloosa, but has LSU and MSU at home. Florida seems to have the most favorable home schedule. \r \r Basically, SC will have to take 2/3 of their western games, and 4/5 with a win over Florida to claim the east. \r \r From a Bama point of view, I'm looking at the SC game as one of our two top trap games (along with Arky).\r \r Anyway, Spurrier's digs on Tennessee never get old.

The West is tough this year. Depending on AU & new QB, plus 2 Mississippi schools improved (Masoli), LSU talented. Not sure who comes from that side, but prolly bama. FL or SC from the east, more than likely FL.
