Life Sucks

Well, unfortunately, after a lot of prayer (yes, I pray), soul searching, number crunching, talking to friends and family, we had to come to the heart-breaking decision not to take Bethany into our house at this time.  :-(

It is a very difficult decision, but there were certain things that would have had to happen to enable us to do it.

1.  Money

2.  Legal aspect.  Lawyer fees, documents, etc...

3.  Boundries with the mother.

4.  My family

Unfortunately, it comes down to money.  See, if we were officially going to be foster parents for her, the state would provide assistance as she would be a ward of the state.  But our situation would be that we would provide a "Guardianship" for Bethany under an agreement with her mother.  This does not provide any monetary assistance from the state, and you can be sure that the mother wouldn't provide any.

We haven't shut the door entirely, as my wife expects a raise of a couple of dollars and hour in the next month, and I should receive some type of bonus at the beginning of next year.

Tami may also be forced to surrender her children to the state.  (There are a few people working on this).  If this happens, we have a good possibility of being Foster parents for Bethany at that time.  We just have to bide our time and see.
