Kiddy Cage Fights

I found an article on Fox News about the growing popularity of cage fighting or mixed martial arts.  Apparently it is spreading to kids as young as 6 in some states.  Does it teach life lessons or is it just irresponsible parenting?

I dont see any problem here. At least they are learning to brawl in a supervised fashion... Lets face it, these kids are learning confidence, self defense and determination. Something severly lacking in todays wimpy, politicly correct, wussy world...

No all the need is a parent to spend time with them and teach them when to use it and when not to. Too bad that most likely will not happen.

no way i'd have my boys in this arena. i'll teach them what they need to know, including the heavy bag in the basement, and we'll work through life lessons as life happens...preempting things can be

Kids box, learn martial arts, and wrestle. Each of these work because they wear necessary protective gear, are trained and are supervised. Combine those and you get MMA. They are still wearing proper gear, are trained and supervised. I don't see the difference. MMA would not be any more hands on than wrestling or boxing. The same parents who wouldn't allow their kids to train in MMA would not let them enter into boxing, karate, or wrestling tournaments either. Therefore their points would be moot against MMA since they would be against all forms of self defense that requires the necessary physical contact to be trained properly.
