What sort of jobs(Federal) are we talking about here?

since as a state employee I no longer get raises for the forseeable future, that chart makes me sad...

until the federal sector starts hiring employees for retail, piece rate or unskilled domestic help, the data presented are pretty useless.\r \r I imagine that the graph would be much closer if you filtered out the jobs from the private sector that aren't represented by an equal counter-part in the federal sector. Much closer, or even show federal wages below a private sector equivalent for many jobs.

Not sure I buy this one. Every fed I knew (DA included) was not paid worth a shit in my opinion. State is worse though. :(

My dad worked for the federal government. The pay isn't as good, but you'd have to go out of your way to get fired. Good job security. He also had good health insurance benefits, which is the main reason he stayed there.
