I'm Looking For Help On How To Connect With PS3 Gamers

My MP gaming these days is PS3 only and I have very few PS3 friends.  I would like that to change but I am having a hard time finding people that play their PS3 regularly and enjoy getting together on PS3 MP games (ie Resistance 2, Killzone 2 and Socom).  I did some poking around on the forums and it looks like 2old2Resist is the place to be for PS3 gamers.  The only problem is, the forum is only open to clan members.  I completely understand why that is.  So what is the best way for someone like myself (a mature, easy going, laid back and respectful gamer) to go about knocking on the door and politely asking if there is room for one more to play?  I would appreciate any suggestions on the best way to connect with the mature PS3 community that hangs out here.

If it's new and pretty we'll play it. We have certain nights (ex. There is a PS3 clan here, you should ping them for membership and then you'll have lots of people to play PS3 with.
