House, M.D.

I have to rant a bit. Big surprise eh?

My co-worker has recently gotten into the T.V. show House.  I like the show, I actually have the first two seasons on DVD but haven't watched them in their entirety.  Well this guy watches two episodes every night.  And then comes in the next day and explains the show in painful, nauseating detail.  And there's no way to rush this guy.  He acts like he's doing a dramatic reading. He psychoanalyzes the characters and tries to tell me how they're feeling.  He goes into backstory and recites dialogues word for word.

Yesterday was the worst. He started explaining one that I've already seen!!!  And I told him that.  It did not faze him one bit.  Every time he broke to take a breath I would say 'yes, I remember, I've seen it' and he would go on like I hadn't said anything.  'So House comes over to her place.  He knocks on the door. She comes to the door. She opens the door. House is standing there with his cane. '  etc etc ad NAUSEUM!

He just finished up a 20 minute recap of the episode where House's ex finally wants to get back with him and he turns her down. Oh but it's not nearly that simple. There are complex interweavings and emotions to consider here, plus their past history which must be established.  There are subtle nuances that must be explained.

Let this be a lesson to you--listening to someone describe a TV show in detail is never, ever as exciting as watching the show.  You can describe the basic plot points, the general overall feel of the thing, but for the love of sanity DO NOT do a dramatic recital of the thing.

I started getting into House too since all the repeats and stuff. It conflicts with other stuff i record in that same time slot so i don't watch it but now i'm hooked.

When I want to agitate him I start talking about Monk and that ignites a debate. Apparently Monk is flat and boring, while House is dynamic and exciting. I've heard that in about 40 different ways, each time with its own explanation. And still I continue to agitate him.\r \r What the hell did I spoil, you cockass? I think every episode he recites for me is an old one from seasons past so if something from last season is spoiling it for you, you need to get your shit together!

I didn't know he got back together with his ex. Probably because I never watched the show and have no intention of doing so. But if I did, that would now be ruined for me. You've taken away something you can never give back. Much like my oral virginity.\r \r Dirty, plot-spoiling plot-spoiler.

But he didn't get back, cockass. Apparently House told her they were through. So put that in your birdhouse and smoke it!

Easy way of getting rid of boring, nauseating and annoying people. \r \r Next time he starts jabbering about something, listen for about 10 seconds or so and then drop straight to the floor, like a lead balloon and start snoring very loudly. Don't worry that you're in the office, it's affective anywhere.\r \r If that doesn't get the message across, he's a 'tard!

I think next time he starts talking about it you should pull out the old babymaker and start stroking it slowly to the rhythm of his entrancing tales. \r \r And I tried smoking from a Birdhouse once. Once.

I like both ideas, I think I'll collapse on the floor and wack off. And if he walks away I'll yell at him 'Go on! Please!'
