Home with sick kids and wife.
Everyone has the cough today (except me). I was standing in my office at about 8:15 when my wife called me to come home as she couldn't stand up without feeling faint and coughing her head off. So we're homebound today.
The kids have been sick for a few days, getting a little better, though the little on is still draining green/yellow snot. I put her on Amoxil since she had a fever. The older one is recovering pretty well. Hopefully my wife will be better so I can go back to work tomorrow.
Woo!

Most sinus infections last 7-14 days no matter what you do.\r

You are more likely to get an antibiotic from a clinician if you have 1) Facial pain 2) Purulent drainage and 3) fever. All three makes it more of a slam dunk as opposed to someone giving you something just to get you out of their office.
Everyone in my house is sick too except me.\r

My secret? At night i pop a couple multi-vitamins before bed. I find usually when i get sick, i wake up sick from not feeling sick the day before. So i figure popping some multi's before i sleep will help boost the ol'immune system while i sleep. And so far i've managed to keep the sickness at bay.\r

I hope everyone feels better man.. But if your going to be sick they should be glad to have you kicking around
Facial pain is my main problem. Drainage at night that I have to sniff and spit out in the morning but the facial pain is the one that bothers me. Sounds like I might as well just deal with it. You are right. Last time I went they gave me some form of Amoxicillan. 10 days of that and loose stool. Should have just waited the 10 days for it to go away on it's own.
H2 - If it is chronic/recurrent, you may have allergies exacerbating it. Starting claritin or zyrtec, using a cool mist humidifier and possibly starting a nasal steroid (flonase, etc) and/or singulair may be the way to go.\r

Allergy testing is an option if you want to go the shot route. I wouldn't, personally, because of the time commitment, but for some people it works really well.
