hmmm, second blog and long absence.
Marriage is a sacred bond that two people agree to uphold; for richer or poorer, for better or worse. That is what marriage is about. Two people that love each other and want to grow with each other no matter the obstacle. That is the sanctity of marriage. It does not matter if you are a man/woman, woman/woman, or man/man. Any couple that wants to uphold those values and not bend or break them, honors the sanctity of marriage. To do otherwise dishonors everything you and your spouse had believed in. There are many levels of breaking the Sanctity. Each one with its own consequences. The one that I wonder about is this: Is physical cheating worse than your spouse falling in love with another? At least on a physical end, it was just the body that was promised to be held by you. Then again... the falling in love with another, when you promise to honor and cherish the one you had married... seems like it destroys the whole Sanctity and Spirit of a marriage. That is the biggest fuck you a person can ever do. Marriage is not an action you do just on the whim, although it seems like plenty of folks do that. It is an extreme commitment that you must always honor. So using the argument that Gays cannot marry, because of the Sanctity of marriage is complete bullshit. If they are prepared to make that commitment, then I can not see a stronger support for Sanctity of Marriage. The Government has a duty that was written down over 200 years ago. It was The Declaration of Independence and The Bill of Rights. All people are created equal. To deny Gays the right to marry is telling them that they are not equal and less of a person. Which in my book is fucked up. Since religion is not a part of the Government... sure they can say no to gay marriage, but not Uncle Sam. Any state that outlaws gay marriage is Un-American in my book. Those states just took a shit and used the Bill of Rights as toilet paper.
