Has it been that long?

I just realized I haven't written a blog entry since Easter of 2009! I haven't been completely off-the-grid this whole time.

So, in a few short sentences, where did that year-and-a-half go?

Had a great winter holiday (so as not to offend anyone) and too much chocolate, and lots of time with friends. Family is a total loss. But good friends make up for it.

Spend the summer "babysitting" a 17-year-old so she wouldn't actually sleep with her boyfriend while her mother was a work. Not too bad a job because I got to stay in my own digs...motorhome...in the driveway. It was hot. Stormy. I got a lot done. Lost more didn't get done. Had a great time and can honestly count one 17-year-old as a friend in her own right. She's a great kid/nearly adult and is going to be a great addition to society. That was a great thing to learn this summer. Anyone looking for a great employee with loads of good attitude and hard work...she gets my vote.

She helped me re-do my apartment in summer of -09 which is why I wasn't around then. Or blogging.

I signed up on Ancestry.com and found a cousin I didn't know about, and ended up meeting about 45 more people I didn't know I was related to! Cool.
I learned to knit and have made slippers, scarves and almost finished a really sweet merino-wool/silk sweater. Pictures available on ravelry.com. Also made some socks. Addicting and much more comfortable than store-bought. More expensive too.

Bought a new laptop this summer. A gaming one. It's great. It's an ASUS with an i7 processor, an ATI 1gb video card, 6 gb ram etc. etc. and it plays all the new games.

I picked up Civ5 for myself for xmas and it's as addictive as it's fore-runners. Shoulda figured that. That's how I got start gaming...Civ I in 1991.

So I've been real-time busy, just sneak a bit of gaming in on the side, and forgot to blog.

Did I mention too much chocolate for the last 2 weeks? Missed y'all when I wasn't here to read up on the going's on around here.
