Gears of War: In the Trenches
Played my first online versus game last night with some classmates and random people that joined the game. Some very close games and a lot of chainsaws and curb-stomping. At one point a team member and I were down and we both got curbed. From then on they called it Couple Curbing...what-EVER! =p I did get one of them back with a pretty crazy kill. I forget the map but it had a river and some bridges set up. I was posted behind some short wall with a sniper after having spotted them. After waiting a few minutes I hear the sounds of a firefight behind me, so I turned and saw the guy I was looking for firing at the back of one of my team members with a shotgun. The guy on my team turns around to face the threat as I swing my sniper rifle around. I squeeze the L-Trigger to get aim and squeeze the trigger. I kid you not, it glided over my team member's shoulder and slams the baddie in the face, bringing him down. That kill won the game too!
One thing I noticed after playing a few games is that it takes a bit more strategy than your average run 'n gun shooter. At first we were disjointed and unsure of what we should do, which got us stomped repeatedly. After getting the hang of the map and talking with each other, it really evened out the playing field. We took cover, covered each other with blind fire, distracted our opponents. There wasn't any circle-strafing, bunny-hopping, one shot one kill stuff going on. IMO, it's kind of a cross between say games like Halo and GRAW. Right now, I can say that I like GoW a bit more than either of those other games. We'll see if it lasts as I get a few more games under my belt and finish up the campaign.
No this blog won't just be about Gears of War, I just got the game so I've been putting some time into it.
I'll eventually put up some topics of other things too.
