Fubar File #11
TGIF everyone! Can't wait for the weekend to start. I had a great time time helping my Halo clan members, the Aged Assassins, improve their kill averages last night. I hope they appreciate my sacrifice. I also have some gaming scheduled this weekend with the Rebel Scum. We're starting some team conquest compititions for Star Wars: Battlefront2. Lets get to it.
From the Gaming AND Crime Files:
D&D enthusiast kills co-worker with sword

DETROIT
Defense attorney David Roby said his client, James Flemons, was in the throes of a schizophrenic episode on Oct. 27, 2004, and believed he was a ninja killing a foe when he attacked and killed his 43-year-old co-worker Anthony Williams.
"He became his fantasy," Roby said. "He was a ninja doing an honorable thing with a person he perceived to be his confederate who he had a beef with."
Roby contends Flemons, 32, suffers from schizophrenia and should be found not guilty by reason of insanity for killing Williams with a 38-inch sword he fashioned at the Peerless Metal Powders & Abrasive plant, where the two men worked.
Deputy Prosecutor Kam Towns told the jury she agrees that Flemons had a problem with Williams.
But she believes Flemons' actions were not based on fantasy. Towns said Flemons was instead acting out his "own grudge and own anger" against Williams and his other co-workers who he thought were bullying him over his obsession with fantasy-based games, his black nail polish and other eccentricities.
The prosecutor said Flemons believed Williams was throwing shards of metal at him and calling him names when he decided to take out his anger out on Williams as revenge.
She told that jury Flemons' anger was put into action when he attacked Williams and "chopped and chopped and chopped until he almost cut off his head."
Towns told the jury they would hear during the trial that this was not the first time Flemons responded to conflict by raising a sword.
Before the trial began, Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Annette Berry ruled that prosecutors can tell the jury about Flemons' prior conviction for felonious assault.
In 1998, Flemons was convicted of attacking his uncle and a police officer with a samurai sword. He was sentenced to two years' probation.
The prosecutor said Flemons' actions after Williams' killing showed he knew he had committed a crime.
"He waits for the police to come because he knows what he did was wrong," Towns said. "He positioned him like Jesus on the cross to apologize because he knew what he did was wrong."
She said Flemons gave himself up to police and also gave a voluntary statement in which he said he killed Williams out of revenge for being bullied.
Although there is little doubt that Flemons is mentally ill, Towns said, his illness fails to meet the definition of legally insane.
In Michigan, a person is deemed legally insane if, as a result of mental illness, he fails to appreciate the wrongfulness or criminal nature of his actions.
Roby, however, said Flemons' attack was an extension of his fixation on things "like Dungeon & Dragons and board games and fantasy things, video games and an obsession with swords," Roby said.
Flemons was interested in mystical pursuits such as Santeria and voodoo, Roby said, and those interests sent him into a "gradual decline into his own private hell."
If Flemons is found guilty of first-degree murder, he will automatically be sentenced to life in prison without parole. A verdict of guilty but mentally ill, however, would mean a life sentence in the prison psychiatric ward.
If the jury returns a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity, Flemons would be sent to the state's mental health facility, where the doctors would maintain sole discretion over his fate. They could opt to release him at some point if they consider him well.
The jury also has the option of finding Flemons guilty of second-degree murder, which would require the judge to sentence him.
Before the openings began, Towns argued successfully to the judge that Flemons was trying to make the jury believe he was insane by displaying on his shirt a hand-drawn picture of an eye in the center of a triangle.
Judge Annette Berry ordered her deputy to confiscate the picture. As he did so, the deputy also removed other such pictures from Flemons' pockets and socks.
Flemons' trial is expected to last five days and will be aired live on Court TV Extra.
So, let me see if I can get this straight... we have a guy who is:
- schizophrenic
- avid Dungeon & Dragons player
- obsessed with fantasy-based games
- wears black nail polish
- has "other eccentricities".
- works at a Peerless Metal Powders & Abrasive plant where he...
- made his own sword (!)
Maybe it's just me, but this looks like just the kind of series of events that could lead up to a person attcking another and "chopped and chopped and chopped until he almost cut off his head." But hey, I could be wrong. This guy was a bomb waiting to go off and the victim was crazy to taunt him. From the looks of it, the state is gonna have a hard row to hoe convincing a jury that his illness didn't precipitate this act.

Signs Of The Apocolypse:
Iran President says "Israel Will Soon Disappear"

(CBS/AP) Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Friday that Israel no longer had any reason to exist and would soon disappear.
"This regime, thanks to God, has lost the reason for its existence," Ahmadinejad told a crowd of thousands gathered at a rally in support of the Palestinians in the capital Tehran.
"Efforts to stabilize this fake (Israeli) regime, by the grace of God, have completely failed... You should believe that this regime is disappearing," he said.
Ahmadinejad also called Israeli leaders a "group of terrorists" and threatened any country that supports the Jewish state, as millions of Iranians took to the streets for anti-Israel protests.
"You imposed a group of terrorists ... on the region," Ahmadinejad said, addressing the U.S. and its allies. "It is in your own interest to distance yourself from these criminals... This is an ultimatum. Don't complain tomorrow."

As just a reminder, I am not politicaly correct so don't read if you don't want' to be offended. As far as I'm concerned, Islam has become the new Nazis and this guy is no different than Hitler. Muslims should do (but won't) what the German people should have done (but didn't). Kick these so called leaders out and get some with some sense. Do we ever leardn anything from history or are we doomed to always repeat our mistakes? I'm not even going to respond to his hate speech. He's not worth it.
Random Thoughts:
- Apparently there's an uproar with Michael J Fox's portrayal of his parkinsons disease on a Democratic political commercial. What I can't understand is... when the hell did he become a Democrat? Isn't he Alex P. Keaton? In the 80's, wasn't he the role model for young Republicans everywhere? Hmm... a dem. It just seems weird.
- In Switzerland, some animal rights activists broke into a circus in order to liberate a Siberian Tiger. The plans were to give the tiger to a zoo. After seeing, however, they chicked out and liberated a rabit instead. Lol, as I like to say, we are only as liberal as we can afford to be. Ain't no one gonna risk their own life for that animal. In fact, if you tak eth eanimal rights community and make them hungry enough and cold enough, they will hunnt down that animal, kill it eat it and wrap themselves in it's hide because, that what we do. We're survivalists above all else.
