I finally took some pictures of these trees that went down : all of this happened within 2 miles of my house and there were at least 2 dozen sites that looked just like this :
that last one I could hit with a rock from my house.
scary, scary stuff.

When my son was 3 days old (first night home from the hospital) storms with \"straightline winds\" hit our area. The Bradford Pear tree in our front yard split just like that last picture and landed on the roof of our son's nursery. It would have gone through the window had it not been for the small decorative tree growing in front of it. That was a fun night. Rogue, our three year old daughter, my mother, two cats, and me in the hall bathroom. Glad your family and house had no mishaps!
