Fallout 3

SPOILER ALERT - I'll be discussing the ending of Fallout 3, just in case you haven't played it yet, or have been living under a rock for a while - I've been doing both.

So, I finally got around to giving Fallout 3 a proper blast, instead of just tooling around with it for 7 or 8 levels before giving up on it completely, and I'm wondering - did anyone else find the ending completely unsatisfactory?

I don't mean simply the final scene where you have to choose if you want to sacrifice yourself or have Sarah Lyons do your job for you, I mean the whole run-up to it with Liberty Prime. I don't know, maybe it was becasue I'd spent as much time as I had completing side-quests and exploring, which meant I'd hit level 20 before I was even two-thirds of the way through the main quest, but I found the 'climax' of the game completely anti-climactic. Maybe there wold have been more of a challenge if I hadn't been so well-kitted out, but I felt that I was imply following behind Prime while he did all the work, and occasiaonally took out the odd Enclave guy he missed.

And the actual ending - WTF?? Putting aside the fact that it doesn't make any bloody sense - ther's lethal levels of radiation in there, what ever can we do? How about send in Fawkes, like we ALREADY DID AN HOUR OR TWO AGO!?!? It felt like a cheap shot, especially when there was still so much more in the game to do and see. I'm going to pick up the Broken Steel DLC ina  couple of weeks when pay-day rolls back around, so that I can carry on the game.

Still, I'd love to know what the Devs were thinking, when they scripted an ending like that.

With the total number of games we have to buy....Char, I have an idea....you know the 360 was rated the best valued system on the market...and at $199.99, you could be blasting awas the flood with us in co-op, storming the pacific Islands with us in COD WaW....voice chat, video chat, and you wouldn't have to fight with a Bluetooth headset....

I rented Fable 2 for a few days. I may pick it up when I have completely finished with Fallout 3.

isn't Fawkes in fable 2? I have some \"weird\" chick all armoured up following me. I finally gave her a gun and ammo. 'cause her killing stats were worthless.

you can indeed send Fawkes back in, you can also send in the Lyons chick. The ending of Broken steel feels as though it should have been the ending for teh game. Broken Steel is SO FUCKING worth the money!!
