Dumbledore is NOT GAY!!!
I don't care what JK Rowling says. She has lost my respect. Why does it matter what his sexual preference is? Is it some lousy attempt to expand her audience? As I recall, this was a children's book.

Does it really matter, tho? Why is it so neccessary for his sexuality to come to light.
I'm not sure exactly why you'd want to expand your demographic by a mere 2-6% of the population. That's assuming a portion of that population isn't already a fan. I agree with you though, why does it matter. It's not the point of the books (from what I know of them) so why bring it up now? Unless someone's looking for a little publicity.
Wow, people relax. As was mentioned it came to light because the director was going to do something with Dumbledore's character and she wrote him a note explaining why he couldn't do that. Then it was brought up to her while she was answering questions during a Q&A session after a reading. Its not like she had a press conference or something. She developed these characters and likely they were more developed in her outlines and/or imagination than she put down in the books. So it stands to reason they have thoughts and motivations that didn't make it into the stories.\r

The only sad thing about this is that people will make such a huge f'ing deal about it. Who gives a shit if he's gay or not. For all intents and purposes it played NO ROLE in the books themselves. Get over it.

Yeah. I hate the reality of today's fucked up world. Like, umm, I don't know, bigotry?
It's so sad that this day and age being gay is still considered a horrible tragedy. You fail to realize that J.K. Rowling is British, and the US is one of the few civilized nations where being gay is a horrible thing. She was probably not aware of the extent of American close-mindedness when it comes to sex.
I enjoy my view of Dumbledore, the grandfather figure, being dedicated to his passion for magic and defending those who cannot defend themself. And leave it at that.
The above mentioned quote is that of my own. I forgot which screen name was logged in at the time of the post.

I think that is what turned me off about the last book. At the end, JK Rowling goes into the story of \"Where is Harry now\", and damned if she didn't have him have two boys and name them Dumbledore Severus and after his godfather, for whom the name escapes me. Anyhoo, I would have liked it to be realistic and have both Harry and Voldemort die, does that make me a sadist too? (Harry didn't die because, guess what, its a children's book.)
well I could give 2 shits if he is a pole smoker or not , but I will defend my friends and if you don't like what is being written STAY THE FUCK OUT OF THE BLOG!!!! this isn't the open forum ..this is someone's blog..go read the 5,000 other blogs and try to start a flame war. my .02 :)
For the record Darth, the comment sections are EXACTLY the venue in which to share an opinion regarding someone's blog. If they weren't looking for a reaction or an opinion, they'd be writing in a diary that would be locked before the ink dried.\r

Personally, I think sexuality (homo, hetero or otherwise) should be introduced to children by the parents in their own time and place, not by some bajillionare children book author.
sorry taxi....\r
