A question of Sexism in gaming brought me to an introspective look.  I bitch alot about not getting invites.  I have the popular games that everyone plays.  I introduced my soon to be hubby to this site and to a clan however he remained to get instant invites, while I twiddle around with Timmies until I msg him (or walk into the other room) and dish that I've been online for an hour, can't get into a room and have been playing with Timmies.  He then joins me to play and clan mates join in.  Why?  Because my MVP hubby is playing.


I tried keeping my mic off.  Maybe it's my attitude?  After several hours of play, someone asked the hubby why I don't speak, he described my current tactic.  There was a lot of "Well I don't do that." response.


There are a few that do invite, the good will Ambassadors, that are gamers that don't care about your skill level, they just want to play. 


I played last night, was MVP, and a male member decided it must be funny to team kill me.  I left the game, oops I was host, and of course, had the hubby to play with.  Granted, I love games other than COD4, but that's the only game the hubby plays. 


I'm pretty far along in Left 4 Dead, but the uncoordinated Timmies do take a toll out on you.  With the help of Timmy, it took 2+hrs per campaign to finish 3 levels on Expert.  It gets tiring you know?


I've come to this synopsis.  Most don't play with me because of my skill level.  I'm NOT MVP all the damn time.  When I AM MVP, I get team killed.  WTF?  Random occurance, but it was degrading.  Personalities will always clash, and I believe some don't play because of that issue which is perfectly human.


I'm glad I have my hubby to play with otherwise, I wouldn't even bother with a clan.  I'm tempted to not bother, but letting a few bad apples ruin your comarardie with the good ones is just childish in my eyes.


I'm not the stereotypical girl, I don't giggle nor have a higher pitched voice.  I'm rarely MVP.  I don't bad mouth other players.   I am competitive to  a  spot.  If I don't win, that's okay, but damnit, Ima try.


I'll sum it all up with what the hubby says, "I feel sorry you feel that way baby."


 


Well babe, try living on my side. You might see what my complaint is about.

Just play naked with the xbox live vision camera on. You'll get more invites.\r \r Just to back her up, Coulow kicks ass at the games i have played with her. (UT, COD) And she is funny!

I try to send you invites but up until last night I didn't have the game you played the most. So now that I have the game you play the most you will be getting more invites. I know that I am not a MVP by any means. I know I could care lets about my k/d ratio. So look out Coulow here I come. haha

Keep playing. I've noticed that attitude with players and I don't understand it. Even within my beloved clan I've seen it. I want to play with personalities, don't care about gender and don't understand people who do.

You can play with us anytime you want. Most of the people I play with dont care about skill or humor as long as you play as a team. Just dont tell us how bad we suck or call us idiot noobs every time we die and it's all good. Bring your hubby and anybody else that wants to play. I play GOW2, COD4, & UT3 alot.\r \r By the way, I'm snowpunx08 and I like to read blogs, so I stumbled across yours. \r \r

I'll send you a F/R, assuming there's room on the list. Clan and non-clan games about. Best of all, we're way casual w/ fun first and do our best to be Timmie-Free. And I don't play enough to be MVP myself, so we can cry in our beer together.\r \r Would have made the Phx LAN, but had to celebrate a belated Valentine's Day w/ the better half.

Coulow, you are my RI girl and I'm sorry I have not been on a ton as of late ( work and now the RROD ) but if I ever see you playing W@W I will shoot you an invite...I just never see you playing this so don't bug you. BUT I did just get another copy of COD4 to replace my shot one and once my XBOX is back I will be begging you to let me join in the fun since I haven't held an M16 in ages. Keep your chin up and fuck em all!

with so manu games to choose from and different time zones its understandable that many arent on when you are. i believe that this isnt just my beef. many lower skilled players are overlooked and cliques exsist. a blog is a way i share what ive been experiencing over several months. i think the answer is simple. dont overlook other players. after recently signinh on to the same game at the same time as my mvp hubby he jumped into a rm while being invited. i then tried to jump in sans invite and couldnt. rm full. the beef is is....same time same game hes selected over me. many nites this winter he had left games so i have someone to play with. i kept my mouth shut until a post lit a fire. how many others experience spending time trying to jump into a room vs those who are instantly taken in? what can i do to improve the forgotten ratio?

Ok, Pirate gets the nod for funniest...that was hilarious! but being new to the PCP it is odd sometimes... but I guess no one wants to feel like they are intruding or bugging... \r I can say every game I have ever played with you and your \"crew\" has been fun, off the hook and I always felt better than when I signed in. I don't think I could keep up with you, but some of the other guys in 2old4 BS certainly could. Good bunch of guys and I certainly haven't noticed this kind of attitude toward our female members.
