Country music fans?

Personally, I do not like country music. I'm not one of those pricks who says my music tastes are better than yours, I just never got into it. But for the last six years I've lived in New Hampshire where it's pretty big.

Over the weekend I was DJing a Jack & Jill party in rural New Hampshire. The crowd was younger and the music I had was OK, but a number of people were asking what country music I had. I looked through my selection and realized two things:

1. I don't have any country music at all.

2. Other than Garth Brooks and Achy Breaky Heart, I don't even know where to begin looking.

The Jack and Jill party was for a couple who is going to be married July 4. I am also DJing that wedding and it will be the same group of people but about 3 times the size. I am already starting to put the playlist together and I'd like to give them what they want - out of a 4 hour reception, I'd like to have at least a solid hour of country music.

So I am turning to you, the widely diverse 2old2play community. PLEASE help a brother out. If you're a country music fan, point me in the direction of songs or artists - modern or old school - for upbeat, fun country songs that you would like to hear at a wedding. I've spoken to a couple people at work and I have a couple ideas-

Garth Brooks - Friends in Low Places
Gretchen something - Redneck Woman
Some band whose name I already forgot - Save a horse, ride a cowboy

Well, that's about 12 minutes.

And on a related note - do you know what you get when you play country music backwards?

Go to iTunes and search for the country music top downloads, that should give you the most requested songs. I havn't listened to country since I was in high school, and that phase only lasted a few months before I returned to rock, metal, and punk.

Faith Hill. Dierks Bentley, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride, Lady Antebellum, Big and Rich, just to name a few. I hate country music but live in the heart of country so I know all of them. There was a 3 day music festival down here last weekend that drew half a million people, bamajammusicfestival.com, you can go through the artist list and come out ok

Good luck. \r \r Asking about good country is kind of the same as asking about a good vasectomy in my opinion. The two words just don't mix.

P.S. The wife loves Tim McGraw, and Kenny Chesney. Hope that helps.

The Dixie Chicks just came out with a greatest hits CD. That might be a good investment. Just don't play them back-to-back with Toby Keith.
